Kaslo Food Hub, open for all! Updated on May 4th

We want to make sure you know that if you lost income due to COVID-19 you can come to us for food. If you have never done this before and maybe don’t feel comfortable, our message to you is that we are here to help. We have been given extra money by the government, Columbia Basin Trust and locals to support the Food Cupboard. We have volunteers who will help deliver food to anyone who is self-isolating, immune-compromised, or in a vulnerable age group.  We can also provide coupons to our local stores so  you can shop for yourselves.

If you contact us ahead we can give you an appointment time so that when you arrive you can come right in. If you drop-in you will be given an appointment time. This is so we won’t have people waiting around and we can keep social distancing.

A message from the Food Hub team, please read…
Hi Everyone,

The following is the message that the Food Hub is trying to get out far and wide to all of our area residents affected by COVID, and who are financially impacted by the current situation.

You are welcome to contact Patrick, or Erin at the Food Hub.

– We are trying to get the word out to the general public in the Kaslo area that we have good supplies of food.
– We have received extra funding to stock up on food, and we want to make sure people who have lost income due to COVID feel they can come to us for some food supplies.
– We know there are people who have lost work in our community, but who aren’t coming to the food cupboard because they’ve never done that kind of thing before and maybe don’t feel comfortable.
– Our message to them is that this is an extraordinary time, and we are here to help.
– We have been given extra money by the government, CBT and local residents to provide food for anyone who is in need.
– Please tell people who can use a little help with their budget that they can get food supplies from the Food Hub.
– The Food Hub is in the basement of St. Andrew’s Church Heritage Hall, and is accessible from the laneway between ‘St. Andrew’s’ and ‘Barren Fly and Tackle’.
– Additionally, we have volunteers who will help to deliver food to houses of anyone who is self-isolating, immune-compromised, in a vulnerable age group, etc. We can also provide coupons to be used at our local stores so that people can shop for themselves if that is their preference.
– So please, encourage people to use our service if it will help them during this time. If they contact us ahead we can give them an appointment time so that when they arrive they can come right in. If they drop-in they will be given an appointment time when they arrive and asked to return at that time. This is to ensure we don’t have people waiting around and we can observe social distancing guidelines. Or, people can request delivery of food boxes within the Kaslo area.
